Day 296 – The Midsummer Mile

June 28th, 2017 – Finished off my last road race for June. This race is called the Midsummer mile, a 1-mile road race hosted on the State Fairground.

I clocked in at 6 minutes, 58 seconds, which is about 1 minute, 15 seconds slower than my personal best last June. I feel like the strongest cause for this slowdown is because I went from running 5-6 days a week to about, maybe, 1-2 days¬† a week. I am aiming to get to a sub-5 minute mile before the end of this year, so I’m going to start running a lot more for the rest of the year.

Day 295 – Spartan 2017

June 24th, 2017 – Finished up my Spartan Race! Second time finishing this race, first time finishing it with a group of people.

Thought this race was much more enjoyable compared to last years. I am grateful to have run it with such supportive team members each with their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Felt like there was a lot we learned from one another since completing this race. My team members are eager to take on the Spartan Super challenge next year, as well as pushing themselves hard in our training leading up to it. Looking forward to my next Spartan!

Day 294 – Spear Practice

June 23rd, 2017 – It’s the day before the Spartan Race so I decided to get in one more day of Spear throwing practice. My friend was giving away a target board yesterday and I decided to put it to use for throwing practice. Ended up being a really awesome and practical target board.

Day 291 – Cookie Fun Run

June 10th, 2017 – Today I’ll be running my second out of thirteen races for the year. I chose to do the Cookie Fun Run for a number of reasons, the first being that at the end I get cookies!

I went at this with a pretty moderate pace and ended up doing pretty dang well! The course involved going twice around Como lake with a total distance of 3.2 miles(5K). Really enjoyed the run and enjoyed the great cookies and T-shirt at the end.

Day 289 – Last Swimming Session

May 31st, 2017 РWith a few days left until my triathlon I only have one more swim left in my program.  This swim was one last open water swim for 500 meters. Luckily for me, the water was mildly warm allowing for a comfortable swim. This last swim session also marks 3 total months of consecutive swimming. 3 more months until I knock off the next quest!

Day 283 – Brick Trails

May 13th, 2017 – With my triathlon training coming up in 3 weeks I figured it’s time to get use to doing a brick(running right after biking). This morning I put in a long bike session heading towards Mississippi Regional Park. I docked my bike then went for a trail run across the river. After snapping a few pictures I got back on my bike and headed off.

I still had some energy left in me, so after showering off I put in a half-hour practice of double unders. I managed to successfully get 4 in a row, a new personal best! Hoping to at least get 12 in a row before next Saturday.
